Safety Is Not Optional
When you invite someone onto your property to perform lawn care or exterior maintenance, you are placing trust in a person you may have never met. At Snippetz, we believe that trust should be backed by verification, not just a profile photo and a star rating.
That is why every provider on the Snippetz platform undergoes a comprehensive background screening before they can accept their first job. No exceptions, no shortcuts, no grandfathering.
Our Partnership with Checkr
Snippetz partners with Checkr, one of the most widely used and respected background check providers in the technology industry. Checkr's platform is used by major companies across ridesharing, delivery, and home services to screen millions of workers annually.
Using a professional third-party screening service ensures that our checks are thorough, consistent, and handled in compliance with federal and state regulations. We do not cut corners by running informal searches or relying on self-reported information.
What the Screening Includes
Every Snippetz provider is screened across multiple databases and registries:
Criminal History Check
A multi-jurisdictional criminal records search that covers county, state, and federal databases. This search identifies felony and misdemeanor convictions that may be relevant to working on customer properties. The search covers the applicant's residential history going back seven years, in accordance with FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) guidelines.
National Sex Offender Registry Search
A search of the national sex offender registry across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. This is a non-negotiable element of our screening process.
Identity Verification
Confirmation that the provider is who they claim to be, using Social Security number trace, address history verification, and name and date-of-birth matching. This prevents identity fraud and ensures the person who passes the screening is the person who shows up to perform the service.
Additional Checks
Depending on the provider's location and the services they offer, additional screening elements may include:
- Motor vehicle records check (for providers who transport equipment)
- Global watchlist search
- County-level court record searches in jurisdictions where state databases are incomplete
How Results Affect Eligibility
Background screening results fall into three categories:
Clear
The screening returned no disqualifying records. The provider is approved to accept jobs on the platform. The vast majority of screenings result in a clear status.
Consider
The screening identified records that require review. "Consider" does not automatically mean disqualification. Our review process evaluates the nature of the offense, how long ago it occurred, its relevance to the services being offered, and rehabilitation evidence.
We believe in giving people fair opportunities while maintaining safety standards. A minor, non-violent offense from many years ago is evaluated differently than a recent offense relevant to property access or personal safety.
Adverse Action (Ineligible)
If the screening reveals records that disqualify a provider under our safety policy, they cannot join the platform. In these cases, Snippetz follows the full FCRA adverse action process, which is a legal requirement that protects the applicant's rights.
FCRA Compliance
The Fair Credit Reporting Act establishes strict rules about how background check information can be used in making eligibility decisions. Snippetz follows these rules to the letter:
Pre-Adverse Action Notice
Before making a final decision to deny platform access based on screening results, we send the applicant a pre-adverse action notice. This notice includes a copy of the background check report and a summary of their rights under the FCRA.
Dispute Window
The applicant has a minimum of five business days to review the report and dispute any information they believe is inaccurate or incomplete. Checkr investigates all disputes and provides updated results.
Final Adverse Action Notice
If the original findings are confirmed and remain disqualifying, we send a final adverse action notice explaining the decision. The notice includes information about the applicant's right to request an additional free copy of the report and to dispute directly with Checkr.
This process ensures that no provider is denied access based on inaccurate information and that every applicant is treated fairly under the law.
Ongoing Safety
Background screening at sign-up is the foundation, but safety does not stop there. Snippetz also maintains safety through several ongoing measures:
Customer ratings and reviews. Every completed job includes a customer rating. Patterns of concerning behavior are flagged for review by our team.
Issue reporting. Customers and providers can report safety concerns at any time through the platform. Reports are reviewed and investigated promptly.
Account monitoring. Providers who receive multiple complaints related to professionalism or safety concerns face progressive review, including potential re-screening or account suspension.
Insurance requirements. All providers on Snippetz maintain liability coverage as a condition of platform eligibility, providing an additional layer of protection for customers.
